Bart Everly is a renowned American filmmaker and photographer, acclaimed for his remarkable work documenting art, culture, society, and politics, which has been exhibited and screened internationally.
As a photographer, Everly has collaborated with prestigious publications such as Buzz, Interview, Details, Splash, Rolling Stone, the New York Sunday Times, Esquire, Spin, and Vanity Fair. Additionally, he has worked as a freelance writer for Detour and Interview, and was a regular contributor to The Face, a prominent pop culture and style magazine in London, for over eight years.
Everly's work as a filmmaker has been showcased at esteemed festivals like the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, The Mix Festival, Frameline, and Reel Affirmations.
His feature documentary, Let's Get Frank (2003),which follows former US Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) through Bill Clinton's impeachment, is available on Logo and distributed by First Run Features.
In 2010, Everly produced and edited the 4.15-minute version of the unfinished work "A Fire in My Belly" by David Wojnarowicz for the exhibition "Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture" held at the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The exhibition, curated by Jonathan David Katz, featured a panel of experts who later expressed regret over the removal of the film, stating that changes to exhibitions should not be made without meaningful consultation with the curator, director, and leadership of the Board of Regents.
Currently, Everly is working on Velvet Vision (in production),a documentary film about the life and work of filmmaker/photographer James Bidgood, famous for his work on Pink Narcissus (1971).
