Barry Cook's life story is a fascinating one, filled with early beginnings and a passion for filmmaking that has spanned decades. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, USA, Cook's creative juices began flowing at a tender age of ten, when he started making films using his family's super 8 camera. Little did anyone know that this young prodigy would go on to achieve greatness in the world of cinema.

As a precocious twelve-year-old, Cook won two prizes at the local PBS-sponsored Young Filmmakers Festival for his remarkable short films, "The Vampire" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". This early success must have instilled in him a sense of confidence and determination to pursue his dreams.

During his summer breaks, Cook would join his brother in working at Opryland USA, where they would entertain guests by drawing caricatures. This experience not only honed their artistic skills but also taught them the importance of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

As he entered adulthood, Cook made the bold decision to relocate to California to pursue his career in motion pictures. He enrolled at Columbia College, where he spent his time lending a helping hand to his colleagues with their student films. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, and he soon found himself serving as an intern at the renowned animation studio, Hanna Barbera.

In 1981, Cook joined the Disney family, where he would go on to work on some of the most iconic films of all time. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations on "Oliver & Company" and "Captain EO", cementing his reputation as a talented animator. Over the course of seventeen years, Cook worked tirelessly to hone his craft, eventually rising through the ranks to become a respected director.

Mulan, his directorial debut, marked a significant milestone in his illustrious career. This critically acclaimed film showcased Cook's exceptional storytelling abilities and his capacity to bring complex characters to life. Today, Cook resides in Florida with his loving wife and four children, where he continues to inspire and entertain audiences with his remarkable body of work.
