Baris Bicakci, a Turkish screenwriter and author, has led a multifaceted career, marked by academic achievements, editorial positions, and creative pursuits.
Bicakci's educational journey began in Ankara, where he completed his primary, secondary, and high school education. He then went on to pursue higher education at Middle East Technical University, graduating from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1992.
In 1998, Bicakci joined TÜBITAK, taking on the role of editor for the Popular Science Books series. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated a commitment to promoting scientific knowledge, translating numerous scientific works for a broader audience.
Beyond his editorial responsibilities, Bicakci has also made significant contributions to the world of cinema. As a screenwriter, he collaborated with Seyfi Teoman on the 2011 film "Bizim Büyük Çaresizligimizimiz". His work as an assistant director for Muzaffer Özdemir's 2011 film "Yurt" further showcased his versatility and dedication to the craft.
In addition to his screenwriting and directing endeavors, Bicakci has also been involved in curating film festivals. In 2013, he selected two films, "Birdy" (1984) and "Gilbert'in Hayalleri" (1993),for the 19th "Traveling Festival" organized by the Ankara Cinema Association, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. These films were subsequently published under the title "Iki Film Arasindaki En Kisa Mesafe", providing a unique glimpse into the world of cinema.
