Barak Heymann's professional journey began in 2003 when he joined the esteemed "Heymann Brothers Films" company. Since then, he has been actively involved in directing and producing several documentary films. In collaboration with his brother Tomer, he co-created the groundbreaking TV series "Bridge Over the Wadi" in 2005, which garnered widespread recognition and accolades, including the Best Series Award at the Israeli Documentary Competition. The series was later adapted into a one-hour film, co-produced with the American ITVS company, and went on to win numerous awards globally.
Barak's impressive filmography also includes "Dancing Alfonso" (2007),which premiered at the prestigious SXSW festival and earned the Silver Award at the Shanghai TV festival. Subsequently, he co-directed the series "Debut" (2008) with Tomer, which won the Best Series Award at the Israeli Documentary Competition.
In recent years, Barak has been involved in the production of several notable projects. These include the 8-part TV series "The Way Home" (2009) and the critically acclaimed film "I Shot My Love" (2010),both directed by Tomer Heymann. His latest documentary, "Lone Samaritan" (2009),was showcased at prominent film festivals such as FIPA and Krakow, and won the Best Documentary Award at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival. Moreover, it was nominated for the Israeli Academy Awards.
Currently, Barak is working on a new TV series that explores the lives of couples after their divorce, further solidifying his reputation as a talented and innovative filmmaker.
