Biography

Ashwini Kalsekar is a renowned Indian actress, widely recognized for her impressive performances in both Marathi and Hindi television and film industries. Born and raised in Mumbai, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating in 1991.

After completing her studies, Kalsekar began her journey in theatre from 1991 to 1994, under the guidance of accomplished actress Neena Gupta from 1992 to 1993, and theatre acting coach Mohammed Vakil from 1992 to 1995. This rigorous training period honed her acting skills, laying the foundation for her future success.

Kalsekar made her television debut with the popular show Shanti in 1994, followed by C.I.D. in 1998, where she played the role of Inspector Asha. Her breakthrough role as Shalaka Catwoman in Shaktimaan (1997) cemented her status as the Indian Catwoman, particularly among children.

Throughout her career, Kalsekar has portrayed a wide range of characters, including Jigyasa Walia in Ekta Kapoor's Kasamh Se (2006),which earned her numerous awards, including the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role. Her other notable roles include Sikka Thakuriaan in Episode #1.252 (2012),Fu Bai Fu (2009) judge, Maham Anga in Jodha Akbar (2013),and Saudamini, the evil witch, in Kavach... Kaali Shaktiyon Se (2016).

Kalsekar's critically acclaimed performance as Sikka Thakuriaan in Jodha Akbar (2013) earned her several awards, including the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role and the Zee Gold Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role.

In addition to her television work, Kalsekar has also made a significant impact in the film industry.
