Ashvin, the youngest and only Indian Oscar nominee, garnered international recognition for his live-action short film 'Little Terrorist', which was also nominated for European Film Academy Awards and received an honorable mention at BAFTA/LA. This critically acclaimed film won an impressive twenty-four first/best film prizes at over two hundred film festivals worldwide.
As a renowned filmmaker, Ashvin is a two-time national award winner for his Kashmir series, comprising 'Inshallah, Football' and 'Inshallah, Kashmir'. His notable credits include 'Road to Ladakh', starring Irrfan Khan, 'Dazed in Doon', 'The Forest', featuring Jaaved Jaffery, and a UNHCR-commissioned documentary on migration, 'I Am Not Here'. His films are now available on popular streaming platforms Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Ashvin's latest project, 'No Fathers in Kashmir', is a feature film that he wrote, directed, and produced. This Sundance Lab/Mumbai Mantra 2014 & Asia Pacific Screen Academy grant-winning screenplay is the last installment of a trilogy set in the Kashmir valley.
Prior to his success in filmmaking, Ashvin began his career as a theatre director and founded one of the first digital post-production studios in India in 1996. As a respected member of the film industry, Ashvin is a voting member of the European Film Academy.
