In his twenties, he delivered a series of highly acclaimed lectures on the International Science Festival Circuit, showcasing his expertise and captivating audiences worldwide.
Throughout his career, Ashley has written several books detailing his historical discoveries, which have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim. His achievements have not gone unnoticed, as he has been elected into the prestigious Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, an organization incorporated by Royal Charter in 1783.

As a type 1 diabetic, Ashley's fearlessness in the face of extreme challenges and environments serves as an inspiration to others living with the condition. During his filming adventures, he has faced numerous perilous situations, including being poisoned by toxic bats in Costa Rica, almost boiled alive while diving in an active volcano in the Philippines, and being trapped in an underwater sinkhole in Mexico, where he was attacked by a Diamond-backed Rattlesnake.
Today, Ashley is focused on producing documentaries and teaching degree students at the University of the West of Scotland, sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation of scholars and explorers.
