Arthur Rankin Jr.

Arthur Rankin Jr., a renowned producer and director, entered this world on July 19, 1924, in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Throughout his illustrious career, he left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment, with some of his most notable works including the critically acclaimed animated films "The Last Unicorn" (1982),"Willy McBean and His Magic Machine" (1965),and the beloved adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic novel, "The Hobbit" (1977). In his personal life, Rankin was twice married, first to the talented actress Olga Karlatos, and later to Elizabeth Deland. Tragically, his life came to a close on January 30, 2014, in the picturesque setting of Harrington Sound, Bermuda.
