Jules V. Laven, Arthur Gardner, and Levy met in 1943 within the First Motion Picture Unit of the Army Air Force. During their time at the Hal Roach Studio in Culver City, California, they had the opportunity to collaborate with other notable individuals such as Capt. Ronald Reagan, Capt. Clark Gable, and Lt. William Holden, all of whom were producing training films. After deciding that they would establish their own independent motion picture company following their military discharge, the trio was finally able to realize their vision in 1951.
