Aoi Miyazaki, a former child actor, began her professional career at the tender age of four, appearing in advertisements, commercials, and as an extra. Born in Tokyo in 1985, she made her television and film debut in 1999, starring in the film "Ano Natsu No Hi" and the show "Genroku Ryoran".
Two years later, she started winning accolades, including a Best Actress award for her role in "Harmful Insect", a film that also featured a young Yu Aoi. Her biggest role came in 2005 with the manga adaptation "Nana", which she hadn't read prior to obtaining the part. Despite being a significant role, she chose not to participate in the sequel, reportedly due to a mild sex scene.
Her older brother, Masaru, is also an actor and appeared alongside her in the 2006 film "Hatsukoi", which depicted a 1960s heist. The following year, she married her long-time boyfriend, Sosuke Takaoka, but the marriage lasted only until 2011. The couple's relationship was marred by controversy, with Takaoka stating that he was weary of all the Korean content on Japan's Fuji TV and claiming that Aoi supported his views. Both statements were later walked back following a public backlash.
Takaoka also accused Aoi of being unfaithful, claiming that she had been involved with boy band member Junichi Okada as well as others. Aoi and her brother traveled to India to raise awareness about poverty and to Scandinavia to educate themselves on climate chaos. They also conducted charity work in Japan.
Aoi waited until December 2017 to remarry, tying the knot with Junichi Okada, another actor and boy band dancer. The two had first co-starred in the 2008 movie "Kagehinataa Ni Saku" and later played husband and wife in "Tenchi Meisatsu" in 2012. Reports of their relationship had surfaced in 2015, by which time Aoi had grown her hair. However, the two were reported to have had an affair as early as 2011.
Like many Japanese celebrities, Aoi has done vocals for songs and has represented corporate products such as shampoos and phone companies. In her free time, she enjoys photography, citing it as a favorite pastime. Like her brother, she is represented by Hirata Office.
