Anwan "Big G" Glover was born with an innate passion for acting, music, and performance, which manifested itself from a young age. Even in elementary school, he was already in front of audiences, showcasing his talents through acting, playing instruments, and modeling. His love for film can be traced back to his childhood, spent watching classic Black television shows and films with his sister, such as Sanford & Son, Good Times, Dolomite, and films featuring Sidney Poitier. The Wiz, starring Stephanie Mills, remains his all-time favorite play.
Glover's professional acting career took off in 2002 when a friend encouraged him to audition for a casting call for the new HBO series, The Wire. Fate led him to audition in front of Emmy Award-winning casting director Pat Moran, who was so impressed that she immediately cast him in the series. His gritty role as Slim Charles, an enforcer for hire, became a pivotal recurring role until the series concluded.
Since then, Anwan has continued to hone his craft in both television and film. He has appeared in episodes of hit TV series such as Treme, Law & Order SVU, and Scream Queens, among others. His film roles are equally impressive, with unforgettable performances in movies like 12 Years A Slave, Divided City, Dermaphoria, LUV, Dead Money, and more. Glover has also been featured in numerous documentaries.
When he's not acting or hosting his Washington, DC radio show, Anwan can be found performing as the lead mic for the wildly successful Go-Go Band, The Backyard Band, which he co-founded in 1988.
Furthermore, Glover is expanding his career by stepping behind the camera, directing music videos and creating his own YouTube web series, Transitions, in which he also plays the role of Adonis Black.
