Biography

Anupam Sharma is a multifaceted individual with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Films & Theatre from the University of NSW, as well as a post-graduate thesis on Indian cinema. He is a renowned filmmaker, speaker, and author, and has been named as one of the fifty most powerful and influential Australian film professionals by Encore magazine.

As the founding head of films & casting TEMPLE, a leading international production and consultancy firm based out of Fox-Studios in Sydney, Anupam has led a team of film professionals who have worked on over 264 projects across Australia, India, Denmark, the USA, and China.

Anupam was the founding head of the AI Film Fund, which aimed to provide alternative funding for diverse Australian films. He has also directed several projects, including a short documentary titled "Indian Aussies - Terms & Conditions Apply," which was installed in the Australian National Maritime Museum and nominated for awards worldwide.

In addition to his work in film, Anupam has also directed several television commercials and music videos. He has been contracted to direct two more TVCs for Destination NSW after the success of their campaign in India.

Anupam's feature film, "unINDIAN," premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and screened at the Antipodes at Cannes in 2016. The film was praised by Australian film critic David Stratton, who called it "engaging in its cheerful celebration of community."

Anupam has also directed a feature-length factual film titled "The Run," which follows the journey of ultra-marathoner runner and ex-member of Parliament, Pat Farmer, as he runs 85kms a day for 66 days across India.

Currently, Anupam is in pre-production for his thriller feature film, "Honour," which is based on the backdrop of domestic violence and dowry death cases in Melbourne and is being produced by Jannine Barnes.

Anupam has also been involved in various initiatives to promote Australian screen culture in non-traditional markets, including the Australian Film Initiative, which he launched in 2011. This initiative has resulted in several successful events, including India's first annual Australian Film Festival, a Baz Luhrmann retrospective, and a Phillip Noyce retrospective.

Anupam has advised several government and private bodies on Indian films, including Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge, Channel Seven, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and World Movies. He was also the chief judge and advisor to the first India-centric Australian reality television show on SBS, "Bollywood Star."

As a respected commentator and frequent speaker, Anupam has appeared on various television programs, including the ABC, the NINE Network, SBS TV, SPAA, Art Gallery of NSW, and the POWERHOUSE Museum. He was also honored to be an Australia Day Ambassador for seven years in a row and was one of the thirteen young professionals shortlisted in the prestigious "Face To Watch" series by The Sydney Magazine.
