Anthony Wong Chau-Sang was born to a British father and a Chinese mother, and his early life was marked by his father's departure from the family when Wong was just four years old. Despite this challenging start, Wong went on to pursue a career in acting, training at ATV and later enrolling in the esteemed Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Wong's breakthrough came with his roles in several successful TV series, followed by his starring performances in films such as "Hard-Boiled" and "The Untold Story," for which he won a Golden Horse award. He also appeared in the popular "Young and Dangerous" franchise as Dai Fei, a close friend of Ekin Cheng's character Ho Nam.
In 1995, Wong made his directorial debut with the film "New Tenant," showcasing his versatility behind the camera as well as in front of it. He went on to win his second Hong Kong Film Award for his portrayal of the corrupt police officer Tung in the critically acclaimed "Beast Cops" in 1998.
Throughout his career, Wong has continued to impress audiences with his supporting roles in films such as "Infernal Affairs" in 2002 and "Initial D" in 2005, cementing his status as a talented and respected figure in the Hong Kong film industry.
