Biography

Born in the vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Hammersmith, London, to loving Irish parents who undoubtedly played a significant role in nurturing his creative inclinations from a young age. His journey as an actor began when he was just 16 years old, with his first foray into the world of theatre courtesy of the esteemed Dublin Youth Theatre. This initial foray into the world of acting was soon followed by his involvement with the National Youth Theatre, a prestigious institution that provided him with invaluable experience and exposure.

As his talents and confidence grew, he made the bold decision to transition from the world of youth theatre to the professional stage, where he worked with some of Ireland's most renowned theatres, including The Abbey Theatre and Druid. His impressive resume also includes work in the West End, a testament to his dedication and perseverance.

In addition to his extensive work in theatre, he has also made a name for himself in the world of film, with his breakthrough role coming in 1993 with the critically acclaimed 'In the Name of the Father'. Since then, he has continued to hone his craft, taking on a wide range of roles in film and television.

One of his most notable roles to date has been that of Chapuys, a character he has portrayed with great nuance and depth across all four seasons of the popular Showtime series. This impressive feat is a testament to his versatility and range as an actor.

In addition to his work in front of the camera, he is also an accomplished writer. His first stage play, 'Chicane', was met with critical acclaim after its premiere in Dublin, and was subsequently shortlisted for the prestigious Stewart Parker award.
