Antara Biswas, professionally known as Monalisa, is an Indian actress who has made a mark in numerous film industries, including Bhojpuri, Bengali, Odia, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
After completing her education at Julian Day School in Kolkata, Monalisa went on to pursue her higher studies at Ashutosh College, affiliated with the University of Calcutta, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Sanskrit.
Before entering the Bhojpuri film industry, Monalisa faced numerous challenges. Prior to her acting career, she worked as a 'Guest Relations Executive' in several restaurants and hotels in Kolkata.
Monalisa began her career by appearing in numerous Oriya music videos. She has also been a part of the Oriya films Hamam Phi Amsterdam (1998) and Jai Sriram (2005). Her first Hindi film was Jayate (1997),where she played a small role as a girl named 'Aarti'. She then appeared in the song Daman (2001).
She then transitioned to Bhojpuri films, where she gained immense popularity due to her work in Adhikar (2004). Her role in Tauba Tauba (2004) helped her gain recognition in South Indian films.
Monalisa has appeared in over 200 films across various languages, including Hindi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, and Kannada. She has collaborated with popular Bhojpuri stars such as Vikrant Singh Rajput, Pawan Singh, Dinesh Lal Yadav, Khesari Lal Yadav, Manoj Tiwari, and others.
She has also acted in a few low-budget Hindi films, including Blackmail (2005),starring Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty, as well as Jackpot (2006),a Kannada film. However, she failed to draw recognition from these films.
Monalisa's film Aakhiri Rasta (2011) gained popularity, and she was recognized for her work. In 2016, she appeared on the reality TV show Bigg Boss, where she married her long-time boyfriend, Vikrant Singh Rajput, on January 18, 2017, on the show. The couple also appeared on the famous couple's dance show Nach Baliye, season 8, in 2017.
Monalisa is also known for her role in the popular television series Nazar (2018).
