Annika Aakjær, a multifaceted Danish artist, has made a name for herself primarily as a singer, renowned for her captivating stage presence that seamlessly blends her original songs with stand-up comedy.
After attending Aalborghus Gymnasium, Annika opted to forgo formal education, instead choosing to study life itself.
Her debut album, "Lille filantrop" ("Little Philanthropist"),was released in 2008, followed by her sophomore effort, "Missinær" ("Missionary"),in 2010, both produced by Henrik Marstal. The albums received widespread critical acclaim, earning five and six stars from Danish reviewers, although neither yielded a massive radio hit.
The singles "Tyk" ("Fat") from her first album and the title-track from "Missinær" garnered significant attention, with the latter becoming a staple on Danish radio stations for several months. Annika is set to release her third album in 2012.
In 2009, she was awarded the prestigious "Steppeulven" prize for Best Upcoming Actress.
Annika's theatre career took off with her role in the world's first theatre-musical, "Come Together," which featured The Beatles' iconic songs. She received rave reviews, being hailed as a "main attraction" in the show.
In addition to her singing career, Annika has appeared in various small roles, eventually landing the part of Daimi in the 2011 film about the renowned Danish comedian and actor Dirch Passer.
