Biography

Anne Tait is a multifaceted creative professional based in Toronto, with a rich background in producing, writing, casting directing, and broadcasting.

As a producer, Anne's notable work includes the internationally acclaimed Canada/China co-production IRON ROAD, a groundbreaking love story that challenges societal taboos. The film tells the story of a poor but spirited Chinese woman, disguised as a man nicknamed "Little Tiger", who travels to North America in the 1880s to search for her long-lost father. She finds work on the explosives crew building the new railroad through the mountains and falls in love with the privileged son of the railroad tycoon, who believes she is a boy.

Anne has also ventured into writing and directing for various mediums, including theater, radio, and television. Her hit play "Yeats in Love" has been produced in Toronto, Dublin, and on tour across Canada. The television adaptation was produced by the University of Toronto, while the radio version was produced by CBC. Anne Tait Productions is currently developing the feature film version.

As a casting director, Anne has had a long and illustrious career, working on numerous award-winning feature films, television series, and made-for-television movies. Some of her notable credits include Margaret's Museum starring Helena Bonham Carter, Screamers, Deathwish 5, Avonlea featuring Sarah Polley, A Gift to Last with Gordon Pinsent, Goosebumps, Ready or Not, and the Composers, Artists & Inventors Specials. Anne has also worked as a casting director for the Stratford Shakespearean Festival and has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

In addition to her impressive body of work, Anne has received the Maverick Award from the Female Eye Film Festival, honoring her career achievements in the industry.
