Anne, a highly accomplished and prolific writer, has penned an impressive array of over forty books throughout her illustrious career, with her debut novel, "The Summerhouse Loon", being written while she was expecting her first daughter.
Notably, her book "Flour Babies" received the esteemed Carnegie Medal, being crowned the Best Children's Book of the Year, as well as the Best Children's Novel in the Whitbread Awards.
Furthermore, her book "Mrs Doubtfire" was adapted into a film of the same title, starring the late Robin Williams, which went on to gross over £30 million in its initial two weeks of screenings in America, although Anne herself did not witness this success.
In addition to her extensive body of children's literature, Anne also wrote the book "Goggle Eyes", which was adapted for television in 1993, as well as "Bill's New Frock", which was televised by the BBC in 1999.
While she is most renowned for her children's books, Anne did venture into adult fiction with her novel "In Cold Domain", published in 1993.
A divorced mother of two daughters, Anne currently resides in County Durham, where she continues to draw inspiration for her writing.
