Biography

Annabel Leventon's life began in Hertfordshire, a region in the East of England, where she would later draw inspiration from her humble beginnings. With academic excellence as her guiding star, she received a prestigious state scholarship and bursary to pursue higher education at the esteemed St Anne's College, Oxford, a journey that would span from 1961 to 1964.

As a student at Oxford, Leventon's passion for the performing arts was ignited, and she went on to make numerous appearances at the university's Playhouse, further honing her craft. Her impressive repertoire included a tour de force performance as Desdemona in the Oxford University Drama Society's production of 'Othello', which took her to the stages of France.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree, Leventon's thirst for creative expression led her to join the Fourbeats pop group, with whom she performed at the renowned Edinburgh Festival. Her extensive experience with the Oxford University Drama Society continued, as she took part in various other productions, solidifying her reputation as a talented young actress.

In the following years, Leventon's professional journey took her to Leicester, where she made her debut on the stage, marking the beginning of a long and illustrious career. In December 1967, she embarked on a new adventure, leaving for the United States, where she joined Tom O'Horgan's La Mama Troupe in New York. For seven months, she worked alongside this esteemed troupe, soaking up the creative energy of the city that never sleeps.

Upon her return to Great Britain, Leventon's star continued to rise, as she became a part of the original London cast of 'Hair' at the Shaftesbury Theatre, once again working under the direction of Tom O'Horgan. Her impressive range and versatility were further showcased in the London production of 'The Rocky Horror Show', and her numerous television appearances cemented her status as a talented and sought-after actress.
