Born on July 24, 1982, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Anna is the daughter of Mary (Brophy),an English teacher from Wellington, New Zealand, and Brian Paquin, a Canadian phys-ed teacher. When Anna was just four years old, her family relocated to her mother's native country, where she would spend her formative years.
Anna's introduction to the world of acting came at the tender age of nine, when she landed her first role in the critically acclaimed film The Piano (1993),which was shot on location in New Zealand. This early exposure to the craft would lay the foundation for her future success.
As she entered her teenage years, Anna made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where she completed her final two years of high school, graduating in 2000. Following her graduation, she moved to New York City, where she attended Columbia University for a brief period before pursuing a career in the performing arts.
