Anna Maxwell-Martin is a talented and ambitious actress who has made a name for herself in both stage and screen productions. Despite having no family background in the arts, Anna had always dreamed of becoming an actress and worked hard to pursue her passion.
Anna's early start in acting began with school plays, and she even landed a notable role in an acclaimed production of "Breezeblock Park" as Betty. At the age of 20, she auditioned for the prestigious Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art, but unfortunately, she was not accepted. Undeterred, she applied to the London Academy Of Dramatic Art, where she was eventually accepted into the three-year acting program.
During her time at LAMDA, Anna's father passed away, and she used her emotions to fuel her performances. She played lead roles in several plays, including "Romeo and Juliet," "Three Birds Alighting on a Field," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Mother Clap," and "The Way of the World."
After completing her training at LAMDA, Anna began her professional career at the age of 24. She started with small roles in productions like "Coast of Utopia" and "Dumb Show" at the Royal Court in London, directed by Trevor Nunn and Terry Johnson. Her breakout performance came when she was nominated for an Olivier award for her role as Lyra in the adaptation of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials."
In addition to her stage work, Anna has also appeared on the big and small screens. She has made guest appearances in shows like "Midsomer Murders" and "Doctor Who," and has recently been seen in the BBC's adaptation of Charles Dickens's book "Bleak House" alongside Denis Lawson, Johnny Vegas, and Gillian Anderson.
Anna's film credits include "The Hours" with Nicole Kidman, the BBC drama "North & South" as Bessie Higgins, and "Enduring Love" alongside James Bond star Daniel Craig and transatlantic star Rhys Ifans.
