Ann Hu, a multifaceted creative force, made a groundbreaking 35mm debut with Shadow Magic in 2000, a film that garnered widespread acclaim and numerous prestigious awards, including the Chinese Academy Award and Presidential Award for Best Film, as well as international recognition.
Born in China, Hu was one of the earliest students from mainland China to pursue higher education in the United States, arriving in 1979. She went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from New York University and achieved significant success in the business world before making the unconventional decision to become a filmmaker.
Hu's artistic journey began with courses at the New York University Film School in 1992, followed by the completion of her 16mm narrative film, "Dream and Memory", which received critical acclaim internationally in 1994.
Currently, Hu is developing her next film projects as international co-productions, while also working on a TV talk show that is expected to air in both China and America, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile and innovative storyteller.
