Biography

Angela Douglas was born in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, but has spent her entire life in South London. At just 14 years old, she made her professional debut in the West End. She went on to appear in small roles on television, as well as in teenage modeling and commercials.

At the age of 20, Angela was sent to Rome for three months to work on the film CLEOPATRA, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Her 21st birthday was spent there. Upon her return, she was cast as the girlfriend of Brian Blessed's character in the popular British TV series Z CARS.

Angela then went to Bristol to film the movie SOME PEOPLE, directed by Clive Donner, alongside British movie star Kenneth More. They fell in love, despite being ostracized by society and the press due to their age difference and More's married status. After a difficult period, they were eventually able to marry in 1968.

Angela continued to work in the entertainment industry, appearing in films and television shows, including JOHN GOLDFARB: PLEASE COME HOME, SOMETHING'S AFOOT, THE SCENARIO, KILLING JESSICA, ITS ALL HAPPENING, THE COMEDY MAN, and MAROC SEVEN.

She also appeared in several Carry On films, playing the female lead in CARRY ON COWBOY, CARRY ON SCREAMING, CARRY ON FOLLOW THAT CAMEL, and CARRY ON UP THE KHYBER. In addition to her film work, Angela appeared in numerous television shows, including GIDEON'S WAY, THE SAINT, THE AVENGERS, DOCTOR AT LARGE, JASON KING, THE PROTECTORS, FATHER BROWN, and OIL STRIKE NORTH.

After her husband Kenneth More was diagnosed with a rare form of Parkinson's disease in 1979, Angela nursed him for three years until his death in 1982. She then spent 18 months writing her autobiography, SWINGS AND ROUNDABOUTS, which was well-received by critics and audiences alike.

Angela continued to work in the entertainment industry, appearing in films and television shows, including DIGBY THE BIGGEST DOG IN THE WORLD, HAMLET, SHADOW RUN, THIS YEAR'S LOVE, SOUTH KENSINGTON, and FOUR FEATHERS. She also appeared in numerous television shows, including THE GENTLE TOUCH, THIRD TIME LUCKY, DOCTOR WHO, STRATHBLAIR, FOUR SEASONS, CASUALTY, HEARTBEAT, PEAK PRACTICE, and HOLBY CITY.

In 1989, Angela met and fell in love with acclaimed theatre director Bill Bryden. They were introduced at a dinner party held by actress Marsha Hunt and married in 2009 on Angela's birthday in City Hall, New York, with agent Douglas Rae and actress Sally Ann Howes as their witnesses.

In 2018, Angela published her first novel, JOSEPHINE: AN OPEN BOOK, a powerful and compelling story of a young woman's journey to stardom and the trials and tribulations of show business and celebrity, set against the backdrop of London's 1960s.
