Angel Vargas, a native New Yorker, discovered his passion for acting at a young age and has since dedicated himself to honing his craft. Throughout his elementary, junior, and senior high school years, he actively participated in school plays to develop his skills.
His professional journey began when he joined "The World Wheelers", the first professional uni-ball team, and showcased his uni-cycling abilities on popular children's television shows such as "To Tell the Truth", "Wonderama", and "Kids are People Too". This experience inspired him to pursue a career in theatre.
Angel's big break came when he landed a role in Jim Henson's production "The Muppets". His success in working with Jim Henson and Frank Oz led to the creation of the self-originated role of Rocky IV in the Tony Award-winning production of "Starlight Express" at the Gershwin Theatre.
During his six-year run on Broadway, Angel had the privilege of working closely with renowned professionals such as composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, director Trevor Nunn, and choreographer Arlene Philips. These collaborations not only honed his skills but also instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for the craft.
Following his success in "Starlight Express", Angel joined the touring company, earning national and international recognition. With his newfound experience, he transitioned to film and television, appearing in notable projects such as "Quick Change", "See No Evil", and "Street Knight".
