Andy Thompson was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. Following his graduation from Sardis Senior Secondary School in 1987, he pursued higher education at Fraser Valley College, which has since been renamed the University of the Fraser Valley. In 1993, he earned his diploma in acting from Studio 58, a renowned institution located in Vancouver.
Throughout his career, spanning over two decades, Thompson has worked extensively in the film and television industry, boasting an impressive array of credits to his name. Some of his notable roles include appearances in Steven Spielberg's The BFG, Guillermo del Toro's Antlers, The Chronicles of Riddick, Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Riverdale, Van Helsing, The X-Files, as well as numerous Hallmark movies. Additionally, he has secured recurring roles in Greg Daniels' hit comedy Upload, Trial & Error, and A Million Little Things.
In addition to his work in film and television, Thompson is also a talented playwright, director, and theatre producer. He has been nominated for an impressive 18 Vancouver Jessie and Ovation theatre awards, with a total of three wins. As a playwright, he is the creator of several notable productions, including The Zombie Syndrome theatre series, which ran from 2012 to 2016, and the sci-fi musical comedy Broken Sex Doll, which premiered in 2013 and continued to thrill audiences until 2014. Broken Sex Doll received widespread critical acclaim and was hailed as "the next Big Thing in Canadian Theatre."
