Andy On was born on May 11, 1977, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, a place that would later serve as the foundation for his future endeavors. As an anonymous martial artist, Andy's fascination with the cinematic mastery of Jackie Chan led him to emulate the legendary actor's iconic moves, practicing flips and kicks in the comfort of his own home.
As the early 2000s unfolded, Andy's life took a dramatic turn when, while working as a bartender in Rhode Island, someone sparked an idea that would change the trajectory of his life forever. Encouraged by the suggestion to pursue a career in acting, Andy, who had grown disillusioned with his bartending job, decided to heed his intuition and embark on a journey to Hong Kong to chase his dreams.
Upon his arrival in Hong Kong, Andy was approached by the esteemed founder of Chinastar, Charles Heung, and the renowned filmmaker, Hark Tsui, who saw immense potential in the young actor. They offered him the opportunity to portray one of Jet Li's most iconic characters, Black Mask, in the 2002 film Black Mask 2: City of Masks.
In preparation for the role, Andy spent a month training at the revered Shaolin Temple, honing his skills in stretching and martial arts. Although the film received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office, Andy's perseverance and dedication to his craft only grew stronger.
