Andrius Mamontovas is a renowned Lithuanian musician, actor, and producer who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. He started his career in 1983 as the lead singer of the popular band FOJE, which released 14 albums and won numerous music awards in Lithuania. FOJE toured extensively, including European and American clubs, and held a record-breaking concert in Vilnius with an audience of 60,000 people.
In addition to his work with FOJE, Mamontovas has also had a successful solo career, releasing 11 albums to date. He is also known for his work as a producer, having given life to many Lithuanian artists. Mamontovas was responsible for the first Lithuanian house and rap recordings in 1990 and has written soundtracks for several short films and music for theatre plays.
Mamontovas has also ventured into acting, with notable roles in films and theatre productions. He was invited to play Hamlet in a production directed by Eimuntas Nekrosius, which has been touring the world since 1997 and has been performed in 40 countries. In 2002, he wrote music for the theatre play "Ivanov" by Chekhov at Teatro Argentina in Rome.
In 2004, Mamontovas was the main act at the festival by the Brandenburg Gates in Berlin, celebrating the new members of the European Union, including Lithuania. In 2005, he formed a band called LT United to represent Lithuania at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, where they won the 6th place.
Mamontovas is also the founder of The Street Musicians Day, which encourages people to come out and play music on the streets. The event has gained popularity, with over 5,000 musicians participating in 46 cities and towns in Lithuania in 2009.
In 2008, Mamontovas received the Jin Jue Award for Best Music for the film "Loss" by Maris Martinsons at the Shanghai International Film Festival. He wrote the entire soundtrack and played one of the main roles in the film.
In 2009, a DVD of his concert at Park West Chicago was released, showcasing his 20-year touring career in Lithuania. He also played a main character in the film "Amaya" by Maris Martinsons, alongside world-famous actors Kaori Momoi and Dexter Fletcher. Mamontovas composed music for the film, which was filmed in Hong Kong.
