Andrew Tarbet was born in Buffalo, New York, where his family resided briefly before relocating to Boston, Massachusetts. This pivotal move marked the beginning of his journey into the world of theatre, as he commenced working backstage at the prestigious American Repertory and Huntington Theatres at the tender age of 16. His dedication and eagerness to learn earned him a coveted spot in the acting program at the National Theatre School of Canada, where he spent the next three years studying and residing in Montreal.
Upon graduating, Tarbet landed his first significant role as Le Baron, the ringmaster, in Cirque Du Soleil's Saltimbanco, performing in North American, Japanese, and European tours. This experience laid the foundation for his subsequent work in television and film, both in the United States and Canada.
The film Café Olé, featuring Spanish actress Laia Marull, marked a significant turning point in Tarbet's career, prompting him to relocate to Barcelona, Spain in 2005. Since then, he has established himself as a regular fixture on the Barcelona stage, consistently working on camera in English, Spanish, and Catalan. It is worth noting that Tarbet has expressed surprise at his ability to work in these languages.
In addition to his acting pursuits, Tarbet co-founded the Mas Sorrer International Short Film Festival in 2005 and served as its director until 2015. Currently, he is in the final stages of post-production for the short film Tomorrow, which he wrote and directed.
