Biography

Andrew Moodie, a talented actor, director, and writer, embarked on his professional journey on stage, making his debut in a production of David Fennario's 'Nothing to Lose' at the iconic Lafayette House.

This inaugural performance marked the beginning of a successful career, with Moodie going on to perform at numerous esteemed theatres across Canada, including The Great Canadian Theatre Company, the Factory Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, LKTYP, Second City, and the Canadian Stage Company.

Throughout his career, Moodie has received numerous accolades, including a Dora nomination for Best Male Performance for his portrayal of 'Othello' and a Dora award for his performance in Roseneath's Theatre's production of David Craig's 'Health Class'.

In 1995, Moodie launched a thriving playwriting career with the Factory Theatre's production of his play 'Riot', which won the prestigious Chalmers award for Best New Production. Since then, he has penned several other plays, including 'A Common Man's Guide to Loving Women', 'Oui', 'The Lady Smith', 'The Real McCoy', and 'Toronto the Good'.

In addition to his work in theatre, Moodie has also made a name for himself in radio, serving as a member of the creative team behind the hit CBC radio drama 'Afghanada', which won the Writer's Guild of Canada award in 2007.

In 2006, Moodie became the host of TVO's series Big Ideas, further expanding his repertoire. Throughout his illustrious career, he has had the privilege of working with some of the most talented directors in the industry, including Jeremy Podeswa, Donald Petrie, and Sarah Polley, among others.
