Biography

Andrew Hill Newman embarked on a remarkable journey in the entertainment industry, starting as an actor on the Great White Way. His Broadway debut was a notable one, understudying Nathan Lane and magician Doug Henning in the production of Merlin. He went on to appear in various notable productions, including Barnum, Big River, and Master Harold...and the boys.

Off-Broadway, Andrew shone as the lead in the original production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Orpheum Theatre, a role he held for two years. He also created roles in Only Kidding! at the Westside Arts Theatre and Birds of Paradise, directed by the legendary Arthur Laurents at the Promenade. His extensive regional and stock theatre credits include The Guthrie Theatre, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and Theatre Under The Stars.

In 1990, Andrew made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles to further his career in film and television. He has since appeared in over three dozen television series, with recurring and guest starring roles, as well as in seven feature films. His writing skills were showcased when he wrote sketch and monologue material for Saturday Night Live in 1997.

Andrew's big break came when he landed his first staff writing position on the UPN sitcom Guys Like Us in 1998. Although the show was short-lived, he continued to hone his craft, partnering with Matthew Perry to write and sell two sitcom pilots and a feature film script. He also teamed up with Joshua Malina to create Celebrity Poker Showdown for Bravo, serving as Executive Producer for the highly successful series, which raised over $2,000,000 for over 100 charities.

In 2002, Andrew and Hank Azaria co-wrote and produced Nobody's Perfect, which premiered at Sundance and won the Best Short Film award at the 2004 HBO Comedy Arts Festival. He has since been a prolific writer and producer for children's television, working with Nickelodeon since 1999. His credits include writing and producing for The Amanda Show, All That, Drake & Josh, Wendell & Vinnie, and iCarly, for which he was a five-time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Children's Program. Andrew is currently a writer/producer for Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.
