Andrew Ballard is a multifaceted individual who wears many hats as a teacher, actor, and author. His work in education is particularly noteworthy, as he teaches theatre arts to high school students and serves as the program manager for New Voices for the Theater, a high school playwriting residency at SPARC, the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community.
In addition to his work in education, Andrew is also a seasoned actor who has appeared in numerous theatrical, film, and television productions. Some of his favorite theatre credits include playing the roles of Orsino and Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night, Valentine in Arcadia, and various roles on national tours with Theatre IV, now known as Virginia Repertory Theatre.
Andrew's film and television credits are equally impressive, with roles in Sally Pacholok, Veep, and Mercy Street.
In addition to his work in the performing arts, Andrew is also a creative writer who has worked on texts for performance. His writing journey began when his sister Liz approached him with an idea for a picture book that would help people through the grieving process of losing a pet. This book, titled The Great Big Ark in the Sky, was published by Belle Isle Books, an imprint of Brandylane Publishers.
Andrew's collaboration with his sister and artist Lucy Koo resulted in a beautiful book that brings comfort and solace to those who have experienced the loss of a beloved pet.
Andrew's educational background is equally impressive, with a B.A. in theatre from James Madison University and a certificate program in public relations and course work in teacher education through the University of Virginia. He is currently a student in the University of Virginia's M.Ed. in Educational Psychology-Social Foundations program.
