Andrea Jane Corr is a talented Irish musician, singer, and songwriter, best known for being a member of the popular pop/rock/Celtic band The Corrs. Born into a musical family, Andrea's early life was marked by a strong encouragement from her parents, Gerry and Jean Corr, both musicians themselves, to pursue music.
As the best student among her siblings, Sharon Corr, Caroline Corr, and Jim Corr, Andrea's academic prowess laid the foundation for her future success. After graduating from secondary school, Andrea joined her siblings to form The Corrs, a band that would go on to achieve immense global success.
Andrea's musical journey began with learning the piano, a skill she shares with her siblings. As the lead singer of The Corrs, she is also the group's main lyricist, bringing her unique perspective to their songwriting process. Additionally, Andrea plays the tin whistle, an instrument that, when combined with her sister Sharon's fiddle playing, gives the group its distinctive Irish sound.
The Corrs' music is a blend of traditional Celtic and modern pop, drawing inspiration from legendary bands such as the Eagles and the Carpenters. The group's breakthrough came when they auditioned for the musical film The Commitments (1991),in which Andrea landed a speaking role. The film's musical director, John Hughes, recognized the band's potential and became their manager.
In 1994, The Corrs signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records (USA),produced by David Foster. Their debut album, "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" (1995),was followed by "Talk on Corners" (1997),"In Blue" (2000),and "Borrowed Heaven" (2004). To date, the band has sold an impressive 30 million albums worldwide.
The Corrs have had the privilege of sharing the stage with musical giants such as U2, Celine Dion, and the Rolling Stones, with Mick Jagger himself commenting, "They blew us, the Stones, off our own stage." The band has also appeared on various television shows, including Sunday Night Live, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', and MTV's "Unplugged" video series.
Andrea's aspirations extend beyond music, as she is also an aspiring actress. She has appeared in several films and television shows, including the role of Eva Perón in the musical Evita (1996),opposite Madonna.
