Ana Carrizales is a multifaceted creative force, boasting a remarkable portfolio as a writer, filmmaker, and producer based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Throughout her illustrious career, Ana has helmed and produced numerous films and short documentaries, showcasing her remarkable versatility and skill.
Her most recent endeavors include producing the sci-fi drama "The Shipment", which garnered attention at esteemed festivals such as Tribeca, Palm Springs, and Hollyshorts in 2019, as well as the documentary "The Day Don Died", which premiered at Hot Docs and Palm Springs in the same year.
Ana's latest film project, "A Pregnant Woman", which she both wrote and directed, was bestowed the prestigious 2019 Harold Greenberg Fund and BC Arts Council Media Assistance Grant, and is currently in post-production.
In addition to her impressive filmography, Ana's feature documentary "Shaman's Shadow" received The Rogers' Developmental Fund and was selected for the Whistler Documentary Lab.
As a dedicated community member, Ana is deeply committed to amplifying underrepresented voices in the film industry. Her extensive involvement includes serving on the boards of The Documentary Organization of Canada - BC Chapter (2017-2019) and the Vancouver Latin-American Film Festival (2017-2019).
Ana has also lent her expertise as a juror for the DOXA Film Festival, Vancouver International Women in Film and Television Film Festival, and VLAFF, and in 2018 volunteered as a screener for the Whistler Film Festival.
When not working on her latest projects, Ana can be found spending quality time with her two-year-old daughter Gabrielle or instructing film production at Vancouver Film School, where she shares her knowledge and expertise with the next generation of filmmakers.
