Biography

Amelia Brodka, born on August 18, 1989, is a multifaceted individual who has made a significant impact in the world of professional skateboarding, coaching, and organizational leadership.

As a Polish-American, Brodka has had a unique upbringing, born and raised in Nowa Sarzyna, Poland before emigrating with her family to New Jersey in 1996. This cultural fusion has undoubtedly influenced her perspective and approach to her passion for skateboarding.

Brodka's journey in skateboarding began at the tender age of 12, and it wasn't until she witnessed women competing in the 2002 X Games in Philadelphia that she became inspired to seriously pursue the sport. Her dedication and perseverance led her to become a professional skateboarder, competing in events as early as 2009.

However, it was during this time that Brodka noticed a glaring absence of opportunities and visibility for women and girls in the sport. This realization sparked a desire to create change, and she went on to produce her senior thesis at the University of Southern California, titled "Underexposed: A Women's Skateboarding Documentary." This groundbreaking project aimed to shed light on the gender disparities within the sport, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.

Today, Brodka continues to make a significant impact as the president of Exposure Skate Organization, a testament to her unwavering commitment to promoting and empowering women in skateboarding. Her impressive accolades, including two-time European Park Skateboarding Champion and qualification to compete in the inaugural women's park event at the Olympic Games, serve as a reminder of her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Throughout her journey, Brodka has consistently demonstrated a passion for skateboarding that extends beyond her own accomplishments. Her tireless efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women and girls in the sport have earned her widespread recognition and respect within the skateboarding community.
