Biography

Amara's life journey began in England, a country that welcomed her Sri Lankan parents, who had previously resided in Zambia, in order to provide her father with a broader range of work opportunities. This relocation marked the beginning of Amara's formative years, during which she attended the prestigious Wimbledon High School.

As a student, Amara demonstrated a passion for drama, but she approached the prospect of a career in acting with a degree of trepidation, considering it to be a high-risk profession. In an effort to combine her academic pursuits with her creative interests, Amara opted to study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford University, where she earned a 2:1 degree.

Following her graduation, Amara spent two years working in the City of London, specifically in the field of mergers and acquisitions. During her time at Oxford, she had already developed a strong affinity for the performing arts, having directed and appeared in various plays. It was this experience that ultimately convinced her to pursue a career in drama.

Within a remarkably short period of just one month following her graduation, Amara found herself auditioning for a film role in Wes Anderson's critically acclaimed movie, 'The Darjeeling Limited.'
