Alonzo B. Slater, an American actor from Jersey City, New Jersey, was born to proud parents Cynthia Brown and Albert Slater. From a young age, Alonzo was drawn to the world of acting, and his passion was ignited when he auditioned for Lion King on Broadway at the tender age of 11. Despite being one of 300 hopeful kids, Alonzo miraculously finished in the top 15 as Simba, an experience that taught him the importance of drive and passion in the industry.
Years later, Alonzo graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in English, and initially, his goal was to become a teacher. However, he soon realized that his true calling was acting. With his sights set on pursuing his passion, Alonzo went on to become a well-accomplished actor, model, and comedian.
Throughout his career, Alonzo has been featured in numerous commercials and print ads, including campaigns for Asics, Verizon, American Express, Facebook, Stella Artois, Ford, and BMW, to name a few. In addition to his commercial work, Alonzo has also appeared in various indie films, television shows, and shorts, such as "Remembering Wednesday," which was an official selection at the Webisode Film Festival.
Alonzo continues to pursue his acting career with unwavering passion, having recently starred in a range of projects, including "Upshaws" on Netflix, "Grownish" on Freeform, "FBI" on CBS, and "A Christmas for Mary" on OWN network, as well as "A Christmas Family Reunion" on Lifetime network. Currently, Alonzo is in South Africa filming his first recurring role for "Average Joe" Season 2.
