Alice Trueman is a renowned and accomplished scriptwriter, filmmaker, and editor, as well as the joint-artistic director of Broken Leg Theatre. With a plethora of projects in the works, she is currently in post-production for her second directorial short film, Jas, which was executive produced by Red Rock Entertainment, after winning the 2016 Red Rock Entertainment Film Competition.
As a director, Alice's first short film, Egg, starring the talented Sally Phillips, and supported by esteemed industry professionals Alan Bennett and Ideastap, is currently being showcased at film festivals and was initially presented as part of the prestigious Underwire Festival and London Short Film Festival Official Selection.
Most recently, Alice collaborated extensively on the BBC Anim8 competition winner, Mystery Soup, developing and writing the concept alongside series creators Hannah Jacobs & Victoria Manifold.
In 2016, her original play, Three Generations of Women, co-written with Anna Jefferson, received widespread critical acclaim, earning 5-star and 4.5-star reviews, as well as a Lyn Gardner Pick Of The Week, during its UK tour.
Since graduating with an MA in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths University of London in 2010, Alice has worked on a diverse range of projects for both screen and stage, and was selected by the BBC for one of their Continuing Drama trainee programs.
As a trained Script Editor, Story Consultant, and Script Doctor, Alice has had the opportunity to work with the BFI Film Fund, on a project under development with the BBC, and with numerous filmmakers, to help them refine and strengthen their own scripts.
