Alice Drummond, a distinguished and accomplished character actress, entered this world on May 21, 1928, in the charming city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Her parents, Sarah Irene (née Alker),a diligent and organized secretary, and Arthur Ruyter, a skilled and hardworking auto mechanic, instilled in her the values of dedication and perseverance.
After completing her secondary education, Drummond pursued higher learning at Pembroke College, which is affiliated with Brown University. She graduated in 1950, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to embark on a successful career.
Throughout her illustrious career, Drummond has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. She is perhaps most famously known for her portrayal of the timid and frightened librarian in the beloved 1984 film Ghostbusters. Her versatility as an actress is further exemplified in her roles as Ray Finkle's eccentric and unconventional mother in the 1994 comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and as Clara, the quiet and unassuming local, in the 1995 film To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything!
