Ali Asgari, a renowned Iranian filmmaker, was born in Tehran, Iran. As a writer, director, and producer, he has garnered numerous international accolades throughout his career. Two of his short films, "More Than Two Hours" (2013) and "The Silence" (2016),received nominations for the prestigious Palme d'Or award at the Festival de Cannes.
Additionally, his short film "The Baby" was featured in the short film competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2014. Asgari's cinematic works primarily focus on the lives of individuals living on the fringes of society in his native Iran. His debut feature film, "Disappearance," was developed at the Cinafondation residency of the Festival De Cannes and made its world and North American premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival in 2017.
Asgari's second feature film, "Until Tomorrow," premiered at the Berlinale in 2022, while his third feature film, "Terrestrial Verses," was showcased at the Un Certain Regard section of the Festival de Cannes in 2023. Notably, he is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a testament to his outstanding contributions to the world of cinema.
