Alfred Robbins, a native of Queens, New York, grew up on Long Island and earned his degree from the State University of New York - Old Westbury. Prior to pursuing a career in filmmaking, Robbins had a successful stint in the insurance industry. His feature film debut, "Grapes on a Vine", received a nomination for Best Director - First Feature film at the 2008 Pan African Film Festival. The film was later acquired by Urban Home Entertainment and released at various major retailers, including Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Redbox, and Blockbuster Video.
In 2012, Robbins directed the feature film "The Next Day", which premiered at seven film festivals and was acquired domestically by Maverick Entertainment. The film was released nationally at Redbox and Walmart. Robbins' subsequent film, "Mistaken", was shot on location in North Africa and the Washington D.C. / Baltimore metro area. The film, also known as "Raltat", was recognized by the Women Film Critics Circle as one of the best films about a woman not theatrically released.
In 2018, Robbins directed the feature film "All That Matters", which premiered at the 2019 Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. The domestic rights to the film have been acquired by Indie Rights, and it is set to be released in Fall 2021. Most recently, during the summer of 2021, Robbins directed the feature film "American Girl" on location in Atlanta, Georgia. The film is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in August 2021.
