Alexandra Neldel was born in 1976 in West Berlin, Germany, to a family that was marked by her parents' divorce when she was a child. Her father, a hunter, played a significant role in her life, and she often found herself struggling to decide between her father and mother.
This internal conflict may have contributed to her decision to leave her parents' home and start living independently at the age of 16. Despite this, she has maintained a very good relationship with her parents, who are no longer together.
After completing her education at the Realschule in Berlin-Steglitz, Neldel began working as a dentists' assistant. She worked in this role for only one year, during which time she also worked as a hostess. In 1992, she was discovered by the boss of a German casting agency while participating in a pole competition. Although she had no prior experience in acting, she was given a role in the German daily soap opera, Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten.
After leaving Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten in 1999, Neldel went on to star in several German motion pictures and TV films, including Lammbock, Sambain Mettmann, and the Emmy-winning series Berlin, Berlin. Despite never having formally studied acting, Neldel has always believed in the importance of "learning by doing." In her interviews, she has mentioned that she never wanted to be an actress and was content with her life as a dentists' assistant. However, she now enjoys her work as an actress and finds happiness in being able to give something to her audience.
2005 marked a significant turning point in Neldel's career, as she began playing the role of Lisa Plenske in the most successful German daily soap opera ever. She left the series after 365 episodes, and the majority of the audience turned away from "Verliebt in Berlin," which became less successful. Despite this, the 365th episode of "Verliebt in Berlin" was watched by more than seven million German people, making it a profitable production for German TV channel Sat1.
In 2006, Neldel received the "Best European Soap Actress" award and the Rosed'Or (Golden Rose) Award. She is often considered a sex symbol, but she always refuses to acknowledge this label. Instead, she is often regarded as a "girls' girl," with the majority of her fans being women.
Neldel is known for being private and rarely discusses her personal life. She has stated that she wants to keep her private life separate from her professional career. Today, she is one of the most successful actresses in Germany, with a significant following in France, where her series "Verliebt in Berlin" was broadcast and became the most successful German series ever.
