Alexandra Kahwagi is a multifaceted Armenian-Lebanese actress, born in the vibrant city of Beirut, who began her acting career at the tender age of thirteen.
Her early start in the industry led her to quickly gain recognition among pioneers in the film industry, and by the time she was eighteen, she had already starred in numerous short films.
Her feature film debut was in the leading role of "A Perfect Day", directed by the Marcel Duchamp Award-winning duo Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige. The film went on to win accolades at prestigious festivals such as the Nantes Three Continents Festival, the Locarno International Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival, among others.
Following her graduation from L'Institut des Études Sceniques et Audiovisuelles in Beirut with a Bachelor of Arts degree in performing arts, Alexandra expanded her acting career by starring in some of the most notable Middle Eastern feature films.
Her bold and daring performances sparked debates in the Middle Eastern artistic scene, with her portrayal of Jenny in the film "Nuts" raising questions about women's freedom of expression in Arabic cinema.
Her role in the acclaimed Syrian film "Round Trip" tackled cultural issues and earned her the Muhr Special Mention Award from the Dubai International Film Festival.
Alexandra's performance in the critically acclaimed movie "Very Big Shot" brought her international recognition, as the film won numerous awards and was selected as the Lebanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
Netflix acquired the distribution rights for "A Perfect Day", "Nuts", and "Very Big Shot".
The short film "El Gran Libano", directed by Mounia Akl and featuring Alexandra, opened the Directors Fortnight of the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
Seeking to enhance her experience and knowledge, Alexandra relocated to Los Angeles and enrolled at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute, where she honed her skills in method acting, the Alexander movement technique, Fitzmaurice Voicework, improv, and film fighting techniques.
Alexandra is also a skilled musician, proficient in playing the guitar and piano.
