Alexandra Codina's journey in the film industry spans over two decades, with a significant four-year tenure as Programmer and Outreach Manager at the Miami International Film Festival. During this period, she played a pivotal role in bringing Cinema Tropical to Miami, a prominent alternative distributor of Latin American cinema in the United States.
Codina's foray into the film world began in 2000, when she interned at Big Mouth Productions, following her graduation from Bowdoin College. Since then, she has been involved in various projects, serving on the Boards of The Women's Fund of Miami-Dade and Coconut Grove Cares.
Alexandra Codina's directorial debut, "Monica & David", received critical acclaim, earning the Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her outstanding work was also recognized by The Independent, which named her one of the "10 Filmmakers to Watch".
Currently, Codina is working on a short documentary about a 96-year-old farmer in rural Connecticut. She is also conceptualizing her next feature documentary project, further cementing her position as a prominent figure in the film industry.
