Alex Vlack has an extensive career spanning over twenty years, with a diverse portfolio of work in book publishing, documentary and narrative filmmaking, video production, commercial advertising, television programming, exhibition installations, and interactive projects.
Notable projects include:
* The Revisionist, a novel and feature film script, in pre-production, with Vlack set to direct.
* Anna, a novel and feature film script, a love story about a woman in her 70's, currently in development.
* Still Bill, a feature documentary on musician Bill Withers, which won numerous awards and aired on Showtime.
* High Falls, a short film starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won Best Short Film at the Woodstock Film Festival.
* Wisdom and Music, books and feature films on cultural figures, including Nelson Mandela, Jane Goodall, and Ravi Shankar, in collaboration with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
* NOVA documentaries, including "Battle Plan Under Fire" and "Raising the Flag", on American occupations of foreign lands.
* Poetry book "Everywhere Always" for children, and novels "White Eyes and Skipping Stone", "Captain Salt", and "Spin and Snap" for middle grade and adult readers.
* Virtual reality interactive film "Broken Night", starring Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
* Interactive reimaginings of "Fame" and "Crime and Punishment", and the branching narrative comedy series "That Moment When".
* Interactive romantic comedy "First 30" with Sharon Horgan's Mermade/Merman Executive Producing.
In 2011, Vlack founded the media department at Ralph Appelbaum Associates, leading a team of producers, content specialists, and artists to complete nearly $40M worth of productions, including the Jewish History Museum and Tolerance Center in Moscow, IBM's THINK exhibit at Lincoln Center, and the 2015 World Expo installation.
Vlack has also created over 50 commercials for Puma and The Gap, and produced launch videos for Apple products, including the iPad and iPhone 4, which holds the record for the most successful product launch in history.
