Alex's life journey began on September 10, 1978, as he took his first breath. His academic pursuits led him to Cambridge University, where he became an integral part of the esteemed Footlights Revue. In the year 2000, he made a significant debut at the renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his captivating show, "How To Avoid Huge Ships". This remarkable performance earned him a nomination for the prestigious Perrier award for best new comic, as showcased in his subsequent show, "How To Make Fish Laugh". Alex's multifaceted nature is evident in his various endeavors, including his appearance as a contestant on the popular word-based TV game show, "Countdown". He has also demonstrated his literary skills by authoring two books, "Wordwatching" and "Birdwatching". Furthermore, he has taken the stage as the frontman of a live jazz comedy show, "The Horne Section", and collaborated with fellow comedian Owen Powell to conduct a groundbreaking survey, aiming to find a representative from every country recognized by the United Nations to reside in London.
