Alex Cruz, a Canadian-Latin American actor, was born in El Salvador, but his life took a dramatic turn when he was just six years old. His father, driven by the desire to escape the war and provide a better life for his family, embarked on a long journey from their hometown of San Salvador to Toronto. This pivotal moment in their lives marked the beginning of a new chapter for Alex and his family.
Growing up in Canada, Alex was deeply passionate about the performing arts, thanks in large part to the unwavering support of his mother. He was involved in numerous performances from a very young age, and his mother's encouragement played a significant role in nurturing his creative talents.
Tragedy struck when Alex's mother passed away, leaving him to redirect his focus towards academics and part-time jobs to help support his family. Despite the challenges he faced, Alex refused to let his passion for entertainment fade. At the age of 16, he discovered a way to continue pursuing his dreams by performing as an electronic music DJ in clubs and outdoor venues during the late hours of the night. This passion has remained a constant source of inspiration for him to this day.
Prior to pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, Alex worked as a teacher and small business owner. However, he eventually decided to leave his business and career behind to focus on his true passion: acting. Classically trained in various techniques, including Strasberg, Adler, Shurtleff, and Stanislavski, Alex has also honed his vocal skills in musical theatre, popular, and jazz singing styles.
With his sights set on acting in film and television, Alex has already made a name for himself in the industry, appearing in popular TV shows such as The Strain, Taken, and 12 Monkeys. His breakout role as Christopher Walls in the Sci-Fi feature indie film 'Mentamorphosis' marked the beginning of a successful collaboration with producer and director Rany Naser.
Under the umbrella of Lightwork Films, Alex has co-produced and acted in a variety of films, including the upcoming feature film 'Diary Of A Fat Man'. He is set to star in the leading role of Kian Valez in the psychological thriller 'Let Go', which is currently in production and expected to make its way through the film festival circuit worldwide.
