Aleksandr Yefimovich Zeldovich, a renowned Russian filmmaker, theater director, and screenwriter, was born on December 4, 1958, in Moscow. His remarkable career is marked by a peculiar feature - his feature films are released exactly once every 10 years, at the beginning of each decade, since 1990.

Zeldovich's educational background is impressive. He graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University in 1980 and later from the Higher Courses of Screenwriters and Directors in 1986, under the guidance of renowned directors Gleb Panfilov and Alexander Mitta. Since 1986, he has been a director at the prestigious Mosfilm Film Studio.

Zeldovich made his debut in the big cinema in 1990 with the fantasy film "Sunset," which was inspired by the works of Isaac Babel. The film was showcased in various festivals, including the Berlin Film Festival's "Forum" program. In 2000, he presented his film "Moscow," which was based on a script co-written with renowned Russian writer Vladimir Sorokin. This film became an event in Russian cinema and participated in the official program of the Venice Film Festival's "Cinema del Presente" competition.

Zeldovich's subsequent films have also garnered significant attention. In 2011, his film "Target," also co-written with Vladimir Sorokin, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival's "Panorama" program. His fourth full-length film, "Medea," released in 2021, was part of the official competition program at the Locarno Film Festival.
