Albert Glasser

One of the most prolific and influential B-movie composers, Albert Glasser, embarked on a remarkable journey in the music department at Warner Brothers in the late 1930s. During his tenure, he had the unique opportunity to learn the art of film scoring from scratch under the guidance of renowned composers Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold. As he honed his skills, Glasser gradually transitioned to orchestrating, and by the mid-1940s, he was composing and directing his own scores with remarkable ease. Known for his exceptional work ethic, Glasser thrived in the fast-paced and demanding world of B-picture making, where his musical talents were constantly put to the test. Throughout his illustrious career, he composed and directed an astonishing 135 movies between 1944 and 1962, a feat that is all the more impressive considering he also worked on at least 35 feature films without receiving credit. Furthermore, Glasser's impressive repertoire includes scoring 300 television shows and 450 radio programs, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability as a composer. Additionally, he had the privilege of collaborating with notable American operetta composer Rudolf Friml, arranging and conducting his works, and orchestrating for the legendary Ferde Grofé Sr. The two composers first collaborated on the science fiction classic Rocketship X-M in 1950, a testament to Glasser's ability to work with esteemed colleagues and contribute to iconic films.
