Biography

In the year 1994, Alan O'Silva shared a joke with a young girl in the city center of his small mountain hometown, which bordered the region of Transylvania. The girl, taken by his wit, introduced him to the local youth theatre Ariel, under the guidance of his future mentor, Geny Migleczi. That very same night, Alan took to the stage, performing in the evening show. Just a month later, he secured a leading role in a grand Greek tragedy titled 'The Danaides', inspired by Aeschylus, and directed by the renowned Silviu Purcarete. The production embarked on a three-and-a-half-year world tour, garnering numerous accolades at esteemed theatre festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival in the UK and the Lincoln Center Festival in New York.

Following this, Alan pursued his Master of Drama degree at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he delved into the timeless works of Shakespeare and the modern mediums of Radio, Television, and Film. His one-man show 'Fish On Dry Water', which he wrote, directed, and performed, received a four-out-of-five-star rating at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He also landed the role of the main suspect in the reputable detective TV series 'Taggart', where he discovered his passion for cinematography, a passion that would stay with him forever.

Since then, Alan has appeared in numerous films, TV series, and commercials, yet he has never forgotten his first love, theatre. He would periodically return to it, as seen in his performance as Cassio in 'Othello', directed by the acclaimed Andriy Zholdak.
