Noted creative individual, Alan Metter, spent his formative years in the Boston area, before relocating to the Hollywood Hills, where he spent most of his adult life. However, in 2009, he made the decision to move to South Florida, marking a significant change in his personal and professional trajectory.
Early in his creative journey, Metter found himself at Doyle Dane Bernbach, the renowned advertising agency, where he began to hone his skills. It was during this period that he seized the opportunity to direct some of the first music videos for an impressive roster of artists, including George Harrison, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Chicago, Olivia Newton-John, and Donna Summer. These videos, which aired on the fledgling MTV, not only showcased Metter's burgeoning talent but also introduced him to the world of music video direction.
As Metter's experience in music video direction continued to grow, he established himself as a viable candidate to direct feature films. This significant milestone marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career, one that would see him transition from the world of music videos to the world of cinema.
